Our family run independent garage is hiring for a vehicle mechanic / technician – Mot Tester in Buckinghamshire on the outskirts of Aylesbury
While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all of the qualifications, but have sufficient experience and talent.
Responsibilities for Vehicle Technician
• Experienced MOT tester (preferred but not essential)
• Performs quality work in a timely manner and accurately records
• Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, cooling systems, exhaust, brakes, suspensions, lights, etc on a variety of yard equipment, heavy duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment
• Performs routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment, vehicles and machinery
• Performs technical inspections, determines repair parts required and performs mechanical maintenance action and repairs on various tactical and commercial vehicles and equipment
• Performs diagnostic tests, using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment, special tools and lifting devices, to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling system failures in accordance with appropriate procedures and publications
• Repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems and components, on equipment in accordance with appropriate procedures and publications
• Removes, repairs, and replaces engine, drive train and body components of vehicles and equipment in accordance with appropriate procedures and publications
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Diesel Engines, Differentials, Transmissions, Clutches, Drive Shafts, Cam Belts and Water Pumps
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, brakes and suspension components on a variety of heavy duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment
• Fits and adjusts new or repaired parts
• Safely moves company equipment in the yard as needed
• Assures that all Equipment is properly secured prior to work/repairs, wheel chocks, and jack stands
• Participation in company safety initiatives
Qualifications for Vehicle Technician
• Must have own tools and be willing to purchase more as necessary
• Must have minimum welding skills and knowledge – desirable
• Air Conditioning systems, preventative maintenance inspections and engine diagnostics experience required
3 years Minimum recent on the job experience in either a fast fit, independent garage or main dealer
Level 3 certification minimum or time served with great knowledge
Full uk driving licence
Working Hours
Monday – Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm
And every other Saturday 8.30am to 12.30pm. With a 60 minute unpaid break each weekday.
Salary £32,000 – £35,000
