Salary: Main Pay Scale (MPS)/Upper Pay Scale (UPS), depending on experience

About the School:

Principal Is working with a Pupil referral Unit which is dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Our aim is to re-engage students in learning, helping them to develop both academically and personally, and to prepare them for a successful return to mainstream education or transition to further education or employment.

This role can be split between two sites including Chesham and Aylesbury however this is not essential.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality art education to students with diverse needs, fostering their creativity and self-expression, and working collaboratively with colleagues to support student progress and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Teaching: Develop and deliver engaging and differentiated art lessons that inspire and motivate students.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and adaptation of the art curriculum to meet the unique needs of PRU students.
Assessment and Reporting: Regularly assess students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records. Report on student progress to parents/carers and other stakeholders.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and promotes positive behaviour.
Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support to students, addressing their social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about best practices in teaching and learning, particularly within a PRU setting.
Extracurricular Activities: Encourage and facilitate student participation in extracurricular art activities and projects.
Person Specification:

Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognized teaching qualification in Art or a related subject.

Experience: Experience teaching art to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, preferably within a PRU or similar setting. Experience working with students with SEN and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
