Job Title – Principal Planning Officer
Temporary – 6 months
Location – Amersham (HP6 5AW)
Work Schedule – Hybrid working – 1 day office based, 4 days remote/on-site visits
Hours – Monday to Friday – 37 hours per week, 9:00am to 5:30pm
Pay Rate – £39.87 per hour
On behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, Pertemps Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planning Officer to join the South/East Majors Planning Team in the Amersham office. Working alongside the Development Management Team Leader, you will provide expert technical/professional/consultancy planning to contribute to meeting the service objectives, ensuing the provision of an effective, consistent and high quality planning development management service that is responsive to customer demands. You will be responsible for processing and determining a complex planning applications within statutory timeframes and leading on providing advice through all stages of the planning process through PPAs and planning appeals and the provision of professional planning advice as required
About the role
As a Principal Planning Officer you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
Responsible for managing a complex case load of planning related applications, planning related appeals, complex committee reports and compliance investigations that are processed and determined using professional experience in an efficient manner in line with statutory timescales with agreed extensions.
Responsible for and lead on non-statutory application advice and Planning Performance Agreements and ensure provision of advice in a timely manner in line with agreements.
Responsible for providing expert advice and preparing evidence and representing the Council at Public Inquiries and Informal Hearings, and leading prosecutions, including interviewing witnesses under caution, and ensure that appeal/prosecution evidence is provided to a high quality within agreed timescales.
Lead on Section 106 negotiations with developers to secure funding.
Lead on liaison and communication with developers, appointed professional agents, senior officers and other stakeholders on development related matters, engaging with local communities, parish and town councils, and the public as required through the processing of planning applications.
Prepare complex reports recommending decision for complex planning applications reports are both delegate and committee reportsThis is a temporary position for 6 months, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is £39.87 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week.
The Amersham office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP6 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40.
The successful candidate(s) should have:
Experience of working on major applications
Experience with green belt proposals
Full UK driving licence & driving insurance covering business use is required
