Overview
On behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, Pertemps Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor to join the Reactive Maintenance & Contracts team in Aylesbury. Working alongside the Head of Property Services, you will play an important role in dealing with reactive maintenance incidents, being responsible for project managing construction works schemes (up to a value of approx £1M) from the Authority's Revenue reactive maintenance budgets, developing strong relationships with building occupiers, undertaking occasional building condition surveys for Authority properties, maintaining property records on property database and assisting when required in emergency situations.

About the role
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
Primarily dealing with reactive maintenance requests (often urgent) and being able to investigate, diagnose and effect the correct resolution of said, often complex, issues with the most appropriate solutions.
Occasional preparation of fully costed scheme designs and programmes for completion of either singular or a programme of construction projects, including those of a more complex nature (up to an approx value of approx £1M), defining and developing briefs, works specifications and organisation of tenders through both in-house resource and external service providers, through to practical completion on site.
Where appropriate to undertake effective commissioning of professional services, and management of consultants and contractors throughout the construction project process to practical completion for minor works construction projects (up to an approx value of approx £1M).
Ensuring and authorising payment of invoices for the works, maintaining accurate records and supporting the monitoring of contractor performance. All contracts to be organised strictly in accordance with the Authority's Standing Orders & Financial Regulations.
Developing strong relationships with building occupiers, including schools, and professionally advising on repairs and property maintenance, delegated repair items, Health & Safety and statutory compliance issues (including asbestos and legionella), through regular visits to premises and sites. Developing Property business from schools, including participation in service packages and management of self-financed schemes.This is a temporary position until 31 March 2023, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is £27.05 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week.

The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40.

About you
We're specifically looking for a reactive maintenance building surveyor who has wide knowledge of what's required with this line of work.

This is a senior role so looking for around 10 years or more experience, preferably with some Local Authority experience so you understand the sort of clients and building stock involved

The successful candidate(s) should have:
Full UK driving licence & driving insurance covering business use is required
Previous experience working in a Local Authority is desired
