CNC Turning Team Leader

My client deliver a range of high precision gears and transmissions to a very impressive portfolio of OEM clients. This includes Aerospace, Motorsport, Automotive (IC & EV), Marine, Military, Medical, Oil & Gas and Off-Highway.

With AS9100 accreditation and significant investment in R&D, machine tools and robotics across both our manufacturing facilities, we are exceptionally well placed to support both low and high-volume requirements, as well as new projects which may include design. As part of an exciting growth strategy, we are looking for the following highly motivated individual to join our team.

Position available:

Senior CNC Turner (Aerospace & Motorsport – mechanical components).

Role Purpose:

To lead the day shift turning section and be heavily involved in programming and setting of CNC lathes. We manufacture varied and complex parts that are small to medium batch quantities. Our lathes are Doosan Puma and Lynx machines, with driven C & Y axis tooling, using Fanuc 30i controls. The applicant will be required to manage workflow through the section as well as create programmes, set jobs efficiently, and occasionally run CNC lathes. Must be able to understand complex drawings with close tolerances and be experienced in machining different types of materials, especially high carbon steels and aircraft spec stainless grades. Ideally, would be able to support Milling section with setting as required.

Responsibilities:

Programming and Setting Doosan turning centres (Fanuc 30i control)

Managing workflow through the turning section with sense of urgency

Ensuring other Setters and Operators have what they need for efficient workflow

Directly involved in Continuous Improvement of section processes and tooling control

Maintaining high standards and Quality Assurance within section

Programming off-line where practical or most efficient otherwise at the machine

Utilising Setters and floating Operators to optimise efficiency

Supporting the CNC Milling section with Setting as required (Matsuura VX1000 with 4th Axis – Fanuc 31i)

Salary: Dependent on skills, knowledge and experience

Shifts available – Early or Standard Days – Some flexibility required

Hours of work:

Standard Monday to Thursday 8am – 4.30pm, Fridays 8am – 3.30pm

Early shift Monday to Friday 6.00am to 2:15pm

Probation: 3 months

Holiday: Holiday 28 days including bank holidays.

Qualification & skills required for this position

Minimum 5 years’ experience in programming & setting CNC turning centres.

Preferred 3 years’ experience in setting CNC 4-axis mills.

Looking for a team leader who is self-motivated, shows initiative, has the ability to problem solve and work as part of their team.

Possess a strong working knowledge in 30/31i series Fanuc Controls.

Fusion 360 & EdgeCAM Programming experience would be advantageous.

A sound working knowledge and understanding of machine tooling and proper tool usage is essential.

Enthusiasm and drive to improve setup and cycle times whilst maintaining Quality Assurance

Willingness to explore tooling and work holding for Continuous Improvement
