Job Description

CCL Global are currently recruiting for a Utilities Engineer. The successful applicant will be part of the team responsible for discharging the duties for construction support under the scope of services for the HS2 project.

Location: Aylesbury and Brackley.

Type of Contract: Permanent contract.

Job Purpose:

* Assisting in establishing a team to deliver the services which will consist of site-based designer’s representatives as well as office based support

* Construction support consists of;

* Responding to SNC’s / RFI’s / EWN’s for utilities and associated assets.

* Liaising with Detailed Design Teams and Construction Delivery teams to resolve design issues.

* Reviewing and acceptance of permanent works materials for utilities

* Reviewing of fabrication details for integration with the permanent works of utilities

* Producing As-built records of utilities assets

* Contributing to Quarterly Reports to EKFB

* Liaising with head office designers for answering major technical queries.

* Ensuring Health & Safety within the JV organisation.

* Monitoring and supporting the Site Support Team to ensure that the client are receiving the contracted-for services

* Maintaining consistency coordinating with other sections’ support engineers

* Liaising with the CSS Manager the resource requirements to align with construction activities

* Meeting time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

* Responding to inquiries of the contractor, e.g., SNCs, RFIs, EWN etc. for utilities issues.

* Reviewing construction Products and Materials Approvals Form for utilities (PMAFs)

* Reviewing of fabrication details, shop drawings for utilities

* Liaising with Detailed Design Teams and Construction Delivery teams to resolve design issues.

* Reporting of monitoring, testing etc results and preparing reports

* Producing As-built Drawings for utilities assets

* Contributing to the Quarterly Reports as required by the Contract Scope

* Assist in monitoring that all ASC Site-based staff and Site visitors have been trained and inducted prior to working or visiting on EKFB sites


* BSc/BEng with an emphasis in electrical engineering or equivalent.

* Minimum 5 years relevant experience on Design and Build projects dealing with utilities (including experience with Single Line Diagrams, Overhead Pole design, HV Cable Calculations, Specifications and assurance documents) issues and resolving them, preferably on rail projects or other linear projects of similar nature.

* Application of British and European Standards and codes of practice.

* Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, both speaking and writing

* Chartered status preferred.

* Working knowledge of BIMXtra, ProjectWise, Cemar would be an advantage
