Graduate Teaching Assistant – Mental Health and Autism – Aylesbury – Education and Training-Aylesbury
Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30, immediate start, Interviews taking place across January 2023.
If you know your objectives and are sincere, knowing why you want to be in an autistic and mental health setting with many children who have been through significant trauma, we will discuss all aspects and ensure that is the case.
This Graduate Teaching Assistant role will in a specialist Autistic school for children 7-16, all who have degrees of autism, Asperger's and adjacent mental health challenges. The students range from those who are cognitively very capable, academically, to children with a very low level of learning and who will require personal care. It's a good example of how diverse and the complicated role Autism plays in society.
Can you keep the children safe and demonstrate the value of an education to the students?
You will get a great deal of SEN and safeguarding training, MAPA Training included. As an aspiring Clinical Psychologist. Educational psychologist OT or Speech and Language Therapist, over the course of 10 years of qualification and solidifying of interest, you need to qualify and disqualify areas of genuine interest and where your skills need to be enhanced. .

*Aged 5-11 Primary aged students. Many of whom have experienced trauma in their early years
**Physical work combined with being pragmatic, making as much academic progress as each child's context allows
**Some anti-social behaviour that will take getting used to, this is all part of the role when aiding society's most vulnerable children. All training and support provided by the school with their excellent training system
**Number of Therapies introduced and holistic processes, a little progress is a cause for success here
** Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive developmental disorder
**A Real focus on Early Years and Non-Verbal students, holistic techniques to gain engagement
**Secondary aged students with levels of learning well below their stated age
Positive engagement, giving the children a sense of acceptance, talking therapy will not always work here so different approaches required
