Overview
On behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, Pertemps Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Community Support Officer to join the Helping Hands team in their Walton Street offices. Working alongside the Community Support Manager, you will play an important role in providing support and advice to residents around Buckinghamshire – offering solutions to money troubles, providing access to food and fuel support and offering a listening ear to all members of the community that are facing hardship due to the current cost of living crisis.
About the role
The role of a Community Support Officer is mostly phone based where you will provide a listening ear to residents concerns, trying to find available solutions to address the issue and assisting with completing application forms for grants.
This is a temporary position for 3 months, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is £14.58 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week. Buckinghamshire Council are working on a hybrid basis where you will work remotely for 3-4 days per week and in the office 1-2 days per week.The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40.
About you
We are looking for someone who is empathetic and can offer advice and support to our residents without judgment.
You must have really good listening skills, excellent written skills and the ability to accurately summarise.
You will need to be confident but sensitive in distressing situations as some calls may be difficult and residents may become upset, so we need someone who is able to handle these situations professionally but empathetically.
You will be motivated to make a positive difference for our residents and want to deliver total satisfaction where possible.
Due to the frequent liaison activities, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
You will need to be highly accurate with attention to detail. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
